Until recently the CRSP, along with other road safety organisations, pretty much ignored mature motorists when it came to road safety education and training.
But there's now mounting evidence that, as we get older, our risk of being involved in an accident actually increases - after many years of being in the lowest risk groups of all. Simply put, all those years of experience of driving safely begins to be overwhelmed by some of the inevitable physical and cognitive effects of ageing - and so the risk of being involved in a an accident increases.
